Nolo Phiri

Lehlogonolo Phiri popularly known as Nolo Phiri is an actress best known for her starring role as Niki Bongco, a spontaneous, very street-wise girl who has a great sense of humour and is overtly flirtatious, in the soap opera Rhythm City.. She earned her first television role on SABC 2’s biggest soapie drama Muvhango in 2006.

Lehlogonolo Phiri was born 4 February 1987 in Musina, in the Limpopo province of South Africa.

She moved to Johannesburg with her mother in 1990 and studied at the National School of Arts (NSA).

Nolo Phiri is an Honours graduate from The School of the Arts at The University of the Witwatersrand, where she completed her Dramatic Arts degree in 2008.

She began her acting career in 2006 when she landed a minor role on SABC 2 soap opera Muvhango.

Before joining Rhythm City and made her debut into the fashion industry as a brand ambassador for RAGE.

She has produced numerous documentaries as well as vibrant music videos for artists like Mandoza and Psyfo, as an executive producer at Redefine Multimedia.


In 2011 she landed a role on etv Rhythm City as Niki, starring alongside Mduduzi Mabaso, Siphiwe Mtshali, Jamie Bartlet, Amo Chidi and Pam Andrews.

She has also starred in the British series Kingmakers (2014) as well as a local short film produced by Grey Dreaming Communications in 2015.

In 2016 Nolo Phiri launched her clothing line with Apples & Oranges, an online boutique for aspiring young women.She’s also a motivational speaker and has worked very closely with Read Book SA.

Personal life

Nolo Phiri has a son called Leruo, born in April 2013.
