Zizo Beda

Zizo Beda is a South Africa model and television personality and 2006 Miss South Africa Teen winner. She has been co-host of the SABC 1 magazine show, Selimathunzi, since its 21st season in 2008 and currently co-hosts with Lunga Shabalala.

Zizo Beda was born in the town of Dutywa ( formerly Idutywa) in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa.

She was raised by both her parents in the town, her mother is Nonceba Beda as reported back in 2006 when she (Zizo Beda) was crowned Miss South Africa Teen.

Zizo Beda has a sister named Asanda who contested the 1999 Miss South Africa Teen and finished in the top five, “Zizo’s elder sister, Asanda, made it to the top five in 1999. Nonceba said Asanda was supportive of her sister from the beginning,” it was reported at the time. It is unclear if she has any other siblings.

She attended Clarendon High School for Girls in the city of East London in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa and matriculated in 2006, the same year she won Miss SA Teen.

Zizo Beda had planned to study journalism at Rhodes University prior to winning Miss South Africa Teen, “Zizo had planned to study journalism at Rhodes University next year, but now she is unsure of how this will gel with her duties as Miss Teen SA,” the 2006 report said.

In 2006 while in matric she enter the Miss South Africa Teen beauty pageant and went on to win it, “I am so proud of her! To tell you the truth, I didn’t want her to enter because she was busy with matric and I didn’t want anything to distract her, but she begged me and her father,” her mother, Nonceba Beda, was quoted saying when she (Zizo Beda) won that beauty contest.

“When they called out the first and second princess I thought ‘Oh no, I definitely don’t stand a chance’ – those girls were so amazing, the first princess could have easily taken the crown. Then they called out my name and I thought ‘What?’ “I just stood there and couldn’t believe it, and then everyone was hugging me and telling me to go, go, go,” a then 17 years old Zizo Beda was quoted saying. This marked her entry into the entertainment industry.

 

 

Miss SA Teen, Selimathunzi and Sustained Success, 2006 – to date

In 2006 Zizo Beda was crowned Miss South Africa Teen, this propelled her into a career on television and radio ahead of her intended career as a journalist, “Zizo had planned to study journalism at Rhodes University next year, but now she is unsure of how this will gel with her duties as Miss Teen SA,” the 2006 report said.

In 2008 she joined SABC 1’s long running (if not the longest running) magazine programmed, Selimathunzi, where he presented alongside Kaos Matu. In 2009 she appeared as the The Dark Angel alongside Precious Makgaretsa, Lalla Hirayama and Joelle Kayembe in the Trevor Noah and Eugene Khoza co-hosted The AXE Sweet Life.

In 2011 Zizo Beda co-hosted the 11th edition of the Metro FM Music awards, The 11th Annual Metro FM Music Awards, alongside Metro FM radio DJ Tbo Touch. She presented awards to winners at the 6th Annual Crown Gospel Awards and the 20th Annual South African Music Awards. She has also been a guest on Code Green, Jo-Ann Strauss’ short lived Glambition, Nicky Greenwall‘s Screentime with Nicky Greenwall and Pearl Modiadie‘s Zaziwa.

Personal Life

Zizo Beda + Mayihlome TshweteZizo Beda has always been media shy when it comes to her personal life; however, as of 2015 it emerged that she was in a relationship with Mayihlome Tshwete a son of the late former Minister of Safety and Security Steve Tshwete.

In an interview with Gareth cliff on CliffCentral.com Mayihlome Tshwete revealed that he and Zizo Beda were engaged and would be married in the Eastern Cape in December 2015, “We are getting married in December in the Eastern Cape, we doing it right,” Mayihlome Tshwete told Gareth cliff.

On December 11, 2015 Zizo Beda got married to fiancé, Mayihlome Tshwete, at the white wedding ceremony Gonubie Manor in the city of East London in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. The white wedding was followed by a traditional Xhosa wedding which took place on Saturday December 12, 2015 in the Eastern Cape. The ceremony was attended by Malusi Gigaba, Bheki Cele, Khaya Dlanga, Akhumzi Jezile, Lupi Ngcayisa and Shaka Sisulu among many others.
