Tsholofelo Maseko

Tsholofelo Maseko is a South Africa actress and television personality who is currently co-hosting SABC 1’s weekend magazine show, Mzansi Insider, with Katleho Sinivasan. She won the Ses’khona presenter search in 2011 with Mpumi Mbethe to become to co-host of the same show.

Tsholofelo Maseko was born in Middelburg in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa.

She spent her childhood in various places around the Mpumalanga province, this is according to an article published on the Sunday Sun titled “She copes with work AND studies “.

Tsholofelo Maseko attended Boston College; there she studied for a national diploma in business management, this is according to the same article in the Sunday Sun.

She came to public attention after winning SABC 1’s  Ses’khona presenter search.

Ses’khona was a Swati-language lifestyle magazine  produced by Tswelopele Productions.

Tsholofelo Maseko auditioned for Ses’khona in the city of Pretoria in the Gauteng province.

“I went to the Pretoria auditions and it was tough. My nerves were all over the place and I did not sound good at all.

“DJ Naves was there and they asked me to conduct a mock interview with him,” Tsholofelo Maseko said in an interview with the Independent Online (IOL).

In that interview she remarked of her earliest experience on television as co-host of Ses’khona.

“What I have found interesting is how the job puts us in touch with the very people we grew up looking up to in the industry. It is humbling. The other day we did an interview with Bricks and Pro where we went go-karting and that was an awe-some experience,” Tsholofelo Maseko was quoted.

“When people see you on TV they already assume you are rich and everything comes to you easily, but the truth is we all have to work hard, TV or not. We are becoming popular, but riches have nothing to do with it,” she told IOL.

Tsholofelo Maseko co-hosted the seventh season of Ses’khona from late 2011 to April 2012 and after that season the show, which had originally went on air in 2006 under hosts Siphiwe Nkosi ans Hlengiwe Nkosi, was not renewed by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).



Post Ses’khona, 2013 – to date

In 2013 February Tsholofelo Maseko portrayed the character of Rosie in the second season of the SABC 1 hit drama series, Intersexions, which also saw appearances by Khanya Mkangisa, Bonang Matheba, Jo-anne Reyneke, Siyabonga Thwala, Atandwa Kani, Lillian Dube, Abigail Kubeka and Amanda du Pont with newcomer Phila Madlingozi.

In September 2013 Tsholofelo Maseko along with former YOTV presenter Katleho Sinivasan were brought in to replace the outgoing Kedibone Mkhabela and Phila Mazibuko as new presenters of the SABC 1 weekend magazine show, Mzansi Insider.

In February 2014 she starred as Jackie Ndlovu on the SABC 1 drama series, Task Force, alongside Rapulana Seiphemo, Florence Masebe and Lunga Shabalala; in that same year she played the role of Tumi on the first season of SABC 1 drama series, Ngempela. In  July 2014 Tsholofelo Maseko was featured as Dintle in the 12th season of SABC 1’s long running drama series, Soul City.

Personal Life

In November 2014 the Drum magazine website reported that “Tsholo Maseko in assault drama” as per title of that article. The reported incident occurred when she went to fetch her stuff from an ex-boyfriend, “he was there with two of his friends. He said my stuff was in his housemate’s room, but said the housemate was sleeping. When I asked him to wake the housemate up, all hell broke loose,” Tsholofelo Maseko was quoted saying.

Tsholofelo Maseko reportedly said her  ex-boyfriend tried to push her off his balcony and dragged her around, tearing his shirt in the process. She was later escorted out of her ex-boyfriend’s complex by security guards. Tsholofelo Maseko later went to Brixton Police Station to lay charges against the ex-boyfriend, “I was given a J88 form and told to go to the doctor. When I returned, my ex-boyfriend was there,” as quoted by the Drum magazine website.

Her ex-boyfriend had a different version of events, “I didn’t want to open the door for her. She started fighting. She forced her way in and tore my clothes. The security guards asked her to leave. I was very surprised when the cops came to get me later that day,” as quoted by the Drum magazine website. According to the Drum magazine website Police Constable Sibongile Mnguni said a case of assault was opened.
