Sfiso Ncwane laid to rest

Sfiso Ncwane was a South African gospel musician who untimely passed away on Monday December 5, 2016 at Fourways Life Hospital as a result of kidney failure. He was aged 37 years old at the time of his death. On the day shock gripped South Africa as scores of adoring fans found it hard to believe that their icon had passed.

Tributes poured in from all corners of the republic, even President Jacob Zuma expressed his sadness and shock at the passing of such great talent. “The passing of Mr Ncwane is a massive loss for the country. His music touched the hearts of millions of people. He was one of the best gospel artists that the country has ever produced‚ and he left us at such a young age. We are deeply saddened. May his soul rest in peace‚” President Jacob Zuma was quoted saying.

On Thursday December 08, 2016 a memorial service was held in Durban while on Friday December 09, 2016 another memorial service for the fallen star was held at the Grace Bible Church in Soweto, Johannesburg in the Gauteng province. The memorial service of Sfiso Ncwane was attended by industry greats such as Solly Mahlangu, Rebecca Malope, Benjamin Dube, Deborah Fraser and Neyi Zimu  amongst many others.

On Saturday December 10, 2016 the funeral service for Sfiso Ncwane was held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in the city of Durban in the KwaZulu-Natal province.

The funeral was attended by numerous prominent figures including two wives of President Jacob Zuma, Bheki Cele and Nathi Mthethwa among other. Zweli Mkhize and Sihle Zikalala were among the pallbearers.

Sfiso Ncwane was laid to rest at Lala Kahle Memorial Park in Botha’s Hill in the west of the city of Durban.
