Ramaphosa on Ronnie Mamoepa

Ronnie Mamoepa was a South African veteran communicator and ANC stalwart who died at the Centurion hospital at 23:15 on Saturday night as announced by the Presidency. “The president and deputy president convey their sincere condolences to Mr Mamoepa’s immediate and extended family, comrades, friends and colleagues,” the statement read.

Ronnie Mamoepa was a spokesman for the Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa. The deputy president has expressed the sadness over the death of his close associate.

“This is a great loss to me personally, to the presidency and government. Ronnie was always so full of life, so easy to approach and communication was in his blood. He was one of the most visionary communicators we ever had in government as well as in the ANC,” Cyril Ramaphosa said.

“I saw him three hours before he passed away and we knew that he was not going to make it. But I said farewell to him and wished him the peace that his situation comes with.

Ronnie Mamoepa was 56 years old. He is survived by his wife and children.
