Pabi Moloi

Pabi Moloi is a South African television personality, actress and radio DJ who hosted M-Net’s and later Mzansi Magic’s magazine programme, All Access and currently co-hosts e.tv’s talk show, Ekse Zwakala, alongside Dineo Moeketsi and Tol A$$ Mo.

Pabi Moloi was born in the Soweto township of Johannesburg in the Gauteng province of South Africa.

She grew in Soweto and later moved to Yeoville, a suburb of Johannesburg, with her family.

Pabi Moloi was raised by her mother, famed former television personality Nana Moloi, and her grandmother whom in a 2006 interview she referred to her as “street smart”.

She is the eldest of two children; she has a little brother who is a 18 years younger than her, in a 2006 interview she referred to her four years old brother and on her e.tv show in 2015 she referred to him as being thirteen years old.

Pabi Moloi attended Sacred Heart College, a private Catholic school, in Observatory, Johannesburg, Gauteng.

She later went to The National School of the Arts (NSA) in Braamfontein in the city of Johannesburg.

Pabi Moloi went on to study music at Allenby Campus under the tutelage of RJ Benjamin among others.

In 2000 she became part of the house music troupe, The Sonic Divas, whose fate is unknown; her involvement with the group lasted until 2003.

In 2002 Pabi Moloi won the HotJocks presenter search organized and conducted by Primedia’s 94.7 Highveld Stereo; a Johannesburg based radio station.

In 2005 she hosted the 11th edition of the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) alongside South African actor and television personality, Tumisho Masha.

In 2006 Pabi Moloi hosted the second season of the SABC 3 game show, Out of the Box, alongside Darren Maule and Refiloe Seseane.

In 2007 she portrayed the character of Unathi in the 8th season of the SABC 1 long running educational drama series, Soul City, which also starred Lillian Dube, Bonnie Mbuli and David Butler.

In May 2008 Pabi Moloi co-hosted an SABC 1 live dating game show, The Amazing Date, alongside South African comedian Trevor Noah.

 

 

All Access and Continued Success, 2009 – to date

In June 2009 Pabi Moloi began hosting an M-Net original magazine show All Access (later renamed All Access Mzansi and moved to Mzansi Magic) which was reportedly meant to rival SABC 3’s Top Billing.

In 2012 she presented the 18th edition of the Annual South African Music Awards alongside Unathi Msengana, Sizwe Dhlomo and Kabelo Mabalane among others.

In 2013 she co-hosted the sixth season of SABC 3’s Strictly Come Dancing South Africa alongside comedian Marc Lottering.

In 2014 Pabi Moloi was a contestant on the first season of e.tv’s Masechaba Lekalake hosted  game show, I Love South Africa.

Also in 2014 she appeared Comedy Central’s Jimmy Carr hosted The Comedy Central Roast of Kenny Kunene.

In April 2015 Pabi Moloi began co-hosting e.tv’s talk show, Ekse Zwakala, alongside Tol A$$ Mo and Dineo Moeketsi.

Radio

In 2002 Pabi Moloi won the HotJocks presenter search organized and conducted by Primedia’s 94.7 Highveld Stereo.

She later left 94.7 Highveld for SABC Radio’s Metro FM where she hosted The Morning After The Night Before weekend breakfast show.

Pabi Moloi then left Metro FM for the Johannesburg based youth radio station, YFM, where she had a brief stint before returning to 94.7 Highveld.

In 2013 she joined the newly formed Johannesburg based Power FM.
