Nicky Greenwall is a South African television personality and television producer who is best known for presenting e.tv’s Nightlife, The Showbiz Report, The Ten, Screentime with Nicky Greenwall and The Close Up.

Nicky Greenwall was born Nicola Fiona Greenwall to Evon and Ryno Greenwall in Cape Town in the Western Cape province of South Africa.

She went to Rustenburg Girls High School situated in the suburb of Rondebosch in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa.

Nicky Greenwall later enrolled at The Red And Yellow School Of Advertising where she studied art direction and graduated in 1998.

After graduating she went on to work for various advertising agencies in South Africa, among them; TBWA Gavin Reddy, TBWA Hunt Lascaris and The Jupiter Drawing Room.

Nicky Greenwall got her first presenting job at the when she was still in high school.

In 1993 she was selected from hundreds of school children to co-present a twelve-part education series for the Cape Education Department.

The series was filmed over the period of 2 years.

After graduating from The Red And Yellow School Of Advertising, while working in the advertising industry  – Nicky Greenwall pursued a part-time acting career which resulted in various leading roles on television adverts as well as minor roles in films and television projects.

In 1999 she wrote and produced a sketch comedy titled “TV” with long time friend Ruth Barnes, the comedy series aired on e.tv.

In 2002 Nicky Greenwall left Cape Town for Johannesburg to further her television career; there she presented a proposal to e.tv suggesting how the channel can improve it’s coverage of arts and entertainment news  – this led to an offer by e.news at 7 for to be an anchor for arts.

In October 2002 she began hosting Nightlife, a show she also wrote and co-produced. Nightlife was a lifestyle magazine show which covered the country’s hotspots as well as up and coming celebrities. In 2004 she resigned from e.tv and moved back to Cape Town, later that year, e.tv offered her to return to Nightlife – this time however, from Cape Town.

 

The Showbiz Report

Nicky Greenwall responded by presenting a proposal for a new programme that will cover the local and international entertainment news, that programme was The Showbiz Report.

In January 2005 the first episode of The Showbiz Report went on air on Thursday night at 19:30. The Showbiz Report later moved to Saturday nights at 19:30 where it remained until it went off air.

During The Showbiz Report run, Nicky Greenwall covered the world’s high profile entertainment events such as; The Academy Awards, The Venice Film Festival and The Cannes Film Festival.

She interviewed the who’s who of the world entertainment, among them; Alicia Keys, Angelina Jolie, Ashley Judd, Bono,  Charlize Theron, Danny Glover, Emma Thompson, Forrest Whitaker, Hugh Grant, Ja Rule, Johnny Depp, Kiera Knightly, Laura Linney, Liam Neeson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Naomi Campbell, P Diddy, Richard Branson and Usher.

 

Greenwall Productions

In April 2009 Nicky Greenwall founded Greenwall Productions. The company continued with the production of The Showbiz Report.

It also produced The Showbiz Report’s spinoff, The Style Report.

Furthermore; Greenwall Productions produced The Ten, The Close Up and Screentime with Nicky Greenwall.

 

Other Work

In 2007 Nicky Greenwall wrote, produced and narrated the documentary series Behind The Name, which followed the rise of some of South Africa’s most influential entertainers.

She has also contributed as a writer to several publications, among them; Elle, Glamour Magazine, Good Taste,  Men’s Health, Seventeen and The Sunday Times.

Nicky Greenwall has also been featured on the SABC Radio’s 5Fm as well as on BBC World Service.

Her work on Screentime with Nicky Greenwall and The Close Up have seen her interview the likes of Bonang Matheba, Amanda du Pont, DJ Zinhle, DJ Black Coffee, Loyiso Gola, Pearl Thusi, Jeannie D, Pearl Modiadie, Leleti Khumalo, Trevor Gumbi and DJ Euphonik among others.

Personal Life

Nicky Greenwall has been in a relationship with Robin Fryer, owner of 20 Model Management, since 2003. They have two children; Georgina Fryer (born in 2011) and Riley Fryer (born in 2013).
