Khanya Mkangisa

Khanya Mkangisa is a South African actress and presenter who came to fame as the presenter on SABC 1’s long running children’s programme YOTV. Khanya Mkangisa has since had a brief detour to study before returning to re-establish herself and make a smooth transition from child celebrity to out-and-out celebrity actress.

Khanya Mkangisa was born in Peddie in the Eastern Cape province of  South Africa

She is the only Child and was raised by her single-parent mother in the Eastern Cape.

Khanya Mkangisa first came into public attention over 10 years ago when she was a YOTV presenter, she remained on YOTV for approximately 3 years.

At some point she presented Hectic Nine-9, an educational science show Knock Knock and e e.tv reality competition series Shield Teen No Sweat Dance Challenge.

Khanya Mkangisa briefly fell off the public raider for a while during her studies.

In 2008 Khanya Mkangisa made a guest appearance on the second season of Mthunzini.com.

She also had a minor role on Noah’s Ark, an SABC 2 mini-series that consisted of four episodes.

Khanya Mkangisa also appeared uncredited on first season of SABC 3’s critically acclaimed drama, The Lab.

She later appeared on the same show (The Lab) as Refiloe.

Khanya Mkangisa also guest stared on uGugu no Andile, the third of four in a series of mini-series’ produced for SABC 1 based on/ or adapted from Romeo and Juliet.

Although she was never really gone, she had not featured prominently in public for a while until she had a major role, as Asanda, on the fourth season of SABC 1’s hit drama Zone 14 in 2011.

In 2012 Khanya Mkangisa was cast in a lead role on SABC 1’s mini-series Forced Love as Nonhle Minola.

In 2013 she was feature as a commentator on Vuzu.tv’s game show 10 Over 10. Mkangisa was also cast as a lead on the second season of SABC 1’s highly acclaimed drama Intersexions as Nomzamo.

Khanya Mkangisa was also cast as Mpilo Cele in a star studded Zabalaza headed by Seputla Sebogodi of Generations ‘Kenneth Mashaba’ fame and Baby Cele of Backstage fame.

In 2014 Khanya Mkangisa was part of team of e.tv’s game show, I Love South Africa, along with South African legendary comedian Joe Mafela and actress Bonnie Mbuli.

Also in 2014 she joined the cast of SABC 3’s soap opera, Isidingo, as Aphiwe Nzimande – the sister of Skhumbuzo “Ace” Nzimande.

In 2015 Khanya Mkangisa joined the cast of Shona and Connie Ferguson created Mzansi Magic’s Rockville as Nolitha.
