  • Alleged Altercation with Yvette Mhlauli

In May 2015 the Sunday World reported that Dineo Moeketsi was involved in an altercation with YFM DJ Yvette Mhlauli during the Back to the City music festival at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown, Johannesburg.

According to the Sunday World the incident occurred after Dineo Moeketsi saw Zothile “Solo” Langa and Yvette Mhlauli talking.

Dineo Moeketsi and Zothile Solo Langa“It was an innocent chat because I know Solo and we had not hooked up in a while. Nothing suggested we were being cosy. or something. Then, when Dineo suddenly appeared and saw us together, she lost her cool,” the Sunday World quoted Yvette Mhlauli.

“She pushed her face into mine and threatened to beat me up, but was restrained by Solo, who begged her to stop shouting at me.

“They left together immediately after the incident to avoid further embarrassment as there was attention building around us,” Yvette Mhlauli as quoted by the Sunday World.

Dineo Moeketsi was quoted by the Sunday World as saying, “What are you talking about? Where did you get your information from? I’m busy shooting. I don’t know the person you are talking about. The only DJs I know at YFM are Sammy [Sosa] and Thembi [Thabethe].”

The Sunday World article concluded by quoting a witness to the incident, Thato Dlamini, who said “Look, Solo and Yvette have known each other for a long time. They are actually friends.

“Solo was greeting someone who was passing by when Dineo appeared and mistakenly thought Yvette was the one after her man’s attention. It was a case of mistaken identity.

“When everyone present stopped Dineo from making a meal out of it, and after explaining everything to her, she cooled down.

“She understood and apologised to Yvette, that is how it all ended. Everybody was happy and cool about it.”
