Bafana ++BafanaThe match took place at Olympic Stadium, Nouakchott in Mauritania on Saturday September 06, 2015 where the vising South African side under the captaincy of Itumeleng Khune and the leadership of Shakes Mashaba was expected to walk all over the home side.

In the opening five minutes the captain of the South African Senior Men’s Football Team (Bafana Bafana), Itumeleng Khune, fumbled what was essentially a regulation save to help the home side start out on the front foot. The early goal seemed to knock the wind off the sails of the visitors as they hobbled along through out the entire first 45 minutes with hardly anything worth writing home about taking place.

The second half was dramatic for the South Africans who saw their debutant left back, Siyabonga Zulu, being sent off after he had to bring down the advancing Mauritania striker. Shakes Mashaba pulled off AFC Bournemouth struggling striker, Tokelo Rantie, and brought in left back Mzikayise Mashaba.

In the 69th minute Orlando Pirates striker, Thamsanqa Gabuza, pulled South Africa back to the game when he scored with the head. Just as the visitors were beginning to gain momentum the home side scored again restoring their one goal advantage and then scored one more time to make the score 3-1. Bafana Bafana and Shakes Mashaba watched in awe with very little if any answers at all.
