Boitumelo Thulo and Pearl Modiadie at the 14th Annual Metro FM Music AwardsDuring that brief interview Pearl Modiadie asked AKA what would be the name of his baby which he is expecting with girlfriend famed DJ and businesswoman Ntombezinhle Jiyane (DJ Zinhle).

A clearly surprised AKA responded by saying “nah” followed by silence.

At which point Da L.E.S. jumped and saved Pearl Modiadie by jokingly saying the baby’s name would be “ShibabadooShibabu”.

Unfortunately the incident did not end there, AKA took to Twitter express his displeasure with Pearl Modiadie‘s question.

“I also want to say that I think it was in bad taste and timing for Pearl to ask me what my child’s name is in that post award interview,”AKA tweeted.

“North God [referring to Da L.E.S.] totally saved her with that ShibabadooShibabu ad lib …   ,” AKA tweeted.

Pearl Modiadie apologized to AKA via Twitter shortly after, “No offense was intended @akaworldwide, sorry it came across that way to you.Congrats on your award and all the best going forward!!,” Pearl Modiadie tweeted.

AKA accepted or indicated his appreciation of Pearl Modiadie‘s apology by tweeting “class” accompanied by a red heart to her.

 Awards

Pearl Thusi and Cassper Nyovest 14MMAThe 14th Annual Metro FM Music Awards undoubtedly belonged to Motswako rapper Cassper Nyovest and his lead single “Doc Shebeleza” from his debut solo studio, Tsholofelo.

Cassper Nyovest was nominated in 7 categories and won 4 including the sought after “Song of the Year” for his hit song “Doc Shebeleza”, he also won a special award in a new category, Listener’s Choice Award, taking his tally to 5 for the night.

The other notable winner were The Soil who won “Best Produced Album” and “Best Duo or Group” for their second studio album, Nostalgic Moments.

Cassper Nyovest‘s once nemesis, AKA, took home one Metro FM music Award – this excludes Duncan’s “Best Remix” win where he (AKA) was featured alongside Professor and Mampintsha.

K.O who was nominated six times including “Best Collaboration” with AKA on “Run Jozi” went home empty handed – this is particularly because his hit single “Caracara” from his debut solo studio album, Skhanda Republic, and the album itself were in direct competition with Cassper Nyovest‘s “Doc Shebeleza” and Tsholofelo.
